Thousands of hair, skin and nail care companies as well as the infamous make-up industry, publish loads of new and “life-changing” products constantly. Entering the beauty realm circle may seem highly costly but with access to millions of natural products on the market, making it your own and specific to your needs is not as expensive as it may look. There are a multitude of at home DIY skin care projects that can be made at the fraction of the cost of big name beauty brands while being even healthier at the same time
1. Aloe to New Skin – Aloe Vera Face Mask
Aloe vera goes above and beyond sunburn gels and sweet drinks you see on store shelves. It contains antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and highly moisturising properties that revitalize and give one’s skin a fresh new glow and feel! Has your skin been irritated lately? Give aloe vera a shot to say bye-bye to annoying red spots and “aloe” to new skin!
Recipe: Mix 1/2 tbs of almond milk with a tbs of brown sugar until the sugar fully dissolves. Then, add add around 4 tbs of aloe vera juice or gel. Once applied, the mask can stay on for 15 to 20 minutes and can be removed using warm water and a soft towel.


2. Positive Vibes Only – Rice and Ginger Detox Body Scrub
Negativity lingers in the air and sometimes gets the best of us, especially our skin. With this rice and ginger detox body scrub, not only will it rid any dead skin cells, your skin will be left rejuvenated and glowing thanks to ginger’s anti-inflammatory super powers!
Recipe: In a bowl, combine ½ cup of ground rice , ½ of cup coconut milk, ¼ cup of brown sugar, and 1 ½ tbs of ground ginger. After the paste is made, you can scrub it into your skin for a few minutes where it can be washed away with warm water.Â
3. Oh Honey – Honey Lip Scrub
Dry summer air can turn our lips into Sahara desserts with unwanted painful cracks. Use this smoothing honey lip scrub to make your lips sweet and kissable again using nature’s most ancient remedy – honey!
Recipe: Mix together 1 tsp coconut oil, 1 tsp honey, 2 tbs sugar, and a splash of lemon juice in a bowl. Apply the lip scrub with a new toothbrush in a gentle circular motion onto your lips. It can be rinsed off with warm water and a soft towel. Â

4. Age is Only a Number – Cocoa Anti-aging Face MaskÂ
As the saying goes, age is truly only a number but stress and time do take a toll on everyone’s skin. Try out this cocoa anti-aging face mask packed full of antioxidants to give your skin a new, young, and tight feel and look!
Recipe: Mix 1 tbs cocoa powder, 1 tbs sour cream, 1 tbs honey, and an egg white. Apply the mask to your face and let dry before rinsing with warm water and a soft towel.
5. These Feet Were Made for Walkin’ – Baking Soda Exfoliating Foot Soak
Our feet’s skin are one of the strongest yet most worked areas of our body that often take the hardest blow. Dipping your feet into a relaxing and exfoliating foot soak leaves them feeling fresh, clean and ready for many more adventures to come!
Recipe: Combine a ratio of ½ cup of baking soda for every gallon of warm water in a shallow tub or foot bowl and stir until the baking soda dissolves completely. Relax with a face mask on listening to your favourite radio jams for 30 minutes. Once you’re done, rinse away your feet with cool water and pat them dry.
