Morning is everything. Early bird gets the worm… and stuff like that. But it’s not only the catchy phrase, it’s also science.
I’m not some kind of geeky, nerdy, scientist guy that will tell you all facts about alpha brain waves that make your subconscious mind to be more receptive to information coming into your mind at that time (although – I’ve heard that’s true). Let’s keep it simple for now.
Your morning sets up your entire day. After you know that – what are the most important things you can do about that?

1. Do not use your phone for the first hour after waking up
You might have already hear that advice before, but do you exactly know WHY it’s bad for you and why you should not do that?
Let me show you an example – you planned that you will cook this morning or go for a jog. But you look at your phone instead and what do you see? Message from your sister, that she is devastated after her date and how bad men are and all of these cry me a river thing. So what do you do? You call her, you start criticizing men, you start hating the human race and you are now angry at your boyfriend, without a reason.
How cute.
That’s a real-life example, trust me (I’m that boyfriend). So please, do not use your phone early in the morning, if not for yourself – do it for your man…
2. Get some light
It’s really healthy and gets your body and mind going. It’s like a signal that it’s time to get to the action and it should be the time where your most productive hours are. Your mind is clear, you just woke up and if you didn’t speak with your sister yet – you are as productive as you can be.
Also – the daylight works even better than your morning coffee – it’s a natural signal to your body – „Hey – it’s time to wake up!” and your body will do just that.

3.Meditate / Journal / Plan your day
Find something, that will help you to take a breath, take a second to think about what you will do with this day, and plan ahead.
Many of us just wake up in the morning, get a shower and go to work. And after getting back from work we just do.. nothing.
Because we have no idea what we should do with our day. This little pause and plan routine in the morning will prime your brain for further action this day.
Also – a to-do list is a nice thing, umm.. to do 😉
4. Make your bed
This one is so simple, yet – so underrated. Military men are trained to do that first thing in the morning and not without a reason.
That’s how it works:
You wake up and the first thing you do is starting a task (making your bed). There is a piece of information sent to your brain (I started a day with a task, that I finished – ding! – you get a little dopamine shot). And that get you going and you want more of that. It’s like a hit of a drug, first thing in the morning, that makes you want to do, create and accomplish more and more.
And if you aspire to be a productive person – that’s exactly what you need.
