There are a lot of superfoods and nootropics out there that are promised to make your focus better and help you perform on the highest levels.

Right now, when a lot of people are going back to school and you can feel the competition in the air it is important to provide yourself with the best supply there is to improve your performance.

What is the best thing that you can consume on the day to day basis that will help you achieve your goals? Let’s find out!

1. Coffee + Cinnamon

First one is pretty obvious one – coffee. It helps you to boost your focus, become more alert, have higher energy levels, but wait.. cinnamon, what about that?

Cinnamon have some brain-boosting effects too – a 2009 study found that even just the smell of this spice can lead to increased feelings of alertness and decreased frustration.

What’s more (maybe even more important for you than being super focused):

It’s also VERY tasty 😉

2. Green Tea

This ancient brew contains L-theanine, an amino acid that increases alpha brain waves (similar to what happens when you meditate), which are associated with relaxation and a focused calm—perfect for afternoon sipping when you don’t want the huge caffeine jolt from coffee.

I personally don’t consume caffeine at all (due to my sensitive nervous system), but when I was getting off coffee and I started drinking green tea I have to tell you – for couple of days I was performing like a goddamn r-o-b-o-t.

3. Right Breakfast – Oatmeal and Eggs

Yeah, that’s right. What you want to aim at is food that has a lot of fat and protein in it – avoid carbs (especially sugar) at all cost – it will make sleepy at no time.

Good breakfast examples might be fiber-packed oatmeal and protein-packed scrambled eggs. Aim for something that will give you long-term energy without getting that „being full” feeling after.

4. Berries

Not only has eating more darkly pigmented fruits like blueberries been associated with a reduced risk of Alzheimer’s, but some studies show that eating them can actually boost concentration and memory up to 5 hours later.

It is thanks to antioxidants, which increase blood flow to your brain – which makes mental tasks a lot easier.

And it’s all nature baby!

5. Dark Chocolate or Cocoa Powder

Dark chocolate has been shown to boost blood flow to the brain.

Only as much as one-third of an ounce per day may help protect against age-related memory loss. It also stimulates the release of certain feel-good chemicals in your brain (aka nerotransmitters).

So – it’s a win – win… – win situation, as dark chocolate is good for your work, makes you smile more and damn, it’s tasty, and that’s what we all need sometimes, don’t we? 😉
